Having arrived decidedly late for the Craig Lawrence presentation we only got to see two of the garments being shown at the Portico Rooms. The space was a flurry with people chin-wagging nonchalantly whilst holding onto their appropriately provided Saturday morning Bloody Mary’s.

The first piece, a shimmering iridescent gown of a dress, falling perfectly onto the form of the model wearing it. The floor length gown was constructed finely, and meticulously, obviously made with many hours of invested time. The accompanying jacket down-luxed the dress, providing a sportier contrast to such formality.

The other dress being displayed, was a crisp white, finely constructed dress, with the bodice being delicately knitted, and the skirt piled high with layers of lace-like threading. This dress gave more of a summer feel to Lawrence’s offering.

In a season of complete simplicity (Osman, Hannah Marshall etc.), Craig Lawrence’s interpretation of fashion was a breath of well needed fresh air, not being shy of sticking out a little bit.
