Haynes lane market
something for everyone
Calling all fellow rummagers, Haynes Lane Market is a hidden treasure trove tucked away in the back waters of South East London.
The market itself isn’t really a market, just a cleverly cluttered old out building which has been adapted to fit in more than 10 miniature stalls, bursting with bits and bobs from the past.
For me, Haynes Lane market was more of a rummaging experience than an opportunity to collect some new bounty, with there not being many outlets of its kind anymore.
Choice stalls had a wealth of vintage clothes and shoes, with many lovely 70’s frocks that are bound to be your disco uniform in this summer’s 70’s renaissance.
Be warned though, prices are not as cheap as you would think they might be, with Haynes Lane Market being a bit more ‘older sisters 80’s bedroom’ than Habitat, you would expect cheapness all round. Saying that, there were the odd bargain, and I am sure the vendors might accept a little bit of bartering.
Well worth a visit, if only to step into the past and feel the nostalgic vibes of church held jumble sales.
